Business Wire IndiaThe sheets have been lifted! Meet the new compact SUV from the house of Mahindra that everyone was waiting for quite eagerly – the all-new Mahindra KUV100, internally known as S101. Speaking to the youth, the name KUV stands for Kool Utility Vehicle and 100 depicts the series of the SUV, which falls below TUV300 and XUV500. With the brand’s first vehicle to feature the latest mFalcon series of diesel and petrol engines, KUV100 is expected to turn tables this year. Autoportal describes the peculiarities of this much-anticipated launch of this year.

Mahindra has been undoubtedly the most promising brand in the segment of SUVs. Every new SUV from the brand acts as the ultimate game changer. Similarly, KUV100 has a lot to impress those who look for a car with compactness of a hatchback and power of an SUV.

The strong design language of this compact SUV mimics the great XUV500 and makes it look like baby XUV500. The compact sub-4 meter SUV comes with an eye-catchy bumper grille and pulled-back headlamps featuring LED daytime running lights. The high shoulder lines and well-sculpted bonnet give it a true SUV look. The bold and neat rear also looks quite decent. The captivating interiors, high ground clearance and the daring, outspoken SUV stance add more to its kitty. This little wonder is available in seven variants – K2 & K2+, K4 & K4+, K6 & K6+, and K8, with K8 being the top-of-the-trim variant. All the variants obviously differ in terms of the tech and safety features they provide.

Coming to the engine part, Mahindra KUV100 is powered by the all-new mFalcon D75 (Diesel) and G80 (Petrol) engines. With KUV100, Mahindra has introduced its first ever petrol engine.  The unique thing about the G80 engine is that it is the lightest engine in its segment with an all-aluminium body designed to give an unmatchable performance. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces super power measuring at 82 bhp and a peak torque figure of 114 Nm. On the other hand, the 1.2-litre diesel engine generates peak power of 77 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque. Both D75 and G80 engines carry five-speed transmission. Another great thing about this compact SUV is that it is the first in its segment to offer Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as a standard feature across all the variants.

Designed to compete with popular hatchbacks like Hyundai i10 and Maruti Swift, KUV100 may even affect the sales numbers of a lot of crossovers like Ford EcoSport and Hyundai I20 Active. Seeing the competition in the market, Mahindra has priced this dominating SUV very competitively and placed it in the price range of Rs. 4 lac - 7 lac. The pricing may work well in favour of the cool mini SUV. Talking about competition from other compact SUVs, Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch sub-4 meter Ignis, which may prove to be a tough competitor for KUV100.

All in all, Mahindra KUV100 is the most penny-wise vehicle from Mahindra and is expected to surely hit the market with huge numbers. The specs provided by KUV100 may prove to be one of the best among its competitors.
