Business Wire IndiaIn his new role at BHIVE, Mr. Suryanarayanan A will head the Incubator Consulting Services as well as help design the Entrepreneur-in-Residence program both of which will help fuel the startup ecosystem.
Today, India’s leading shared workspace company BHIVE Workspace announced that it has hired Suryanarayanana, former IIM Bangalore’s Head of Entrepreneurship cell to lead its incubator consulting services.
Suryanarayanana began his career working for companies such as Union Carbide and Nicholas Laboratories. He then began his entrepreneurial journey with pharmaceutical company Recon in 1988, successfully taking it public through an IPO.
He also founded Medybiz and LIFEKEN, which were acquired by Reliance ADAG and Religare respectively.
Later, Suryanarayanana served as the COO at N S Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) at IIM Bangalore. He then spent 3 years as CFO of Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS). He continues to be involved with NSRCEL as a pro-bon mentor. He is also on the governing board of TiE Bangalore. Suryanarayanana is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has a Masters in Management from McGill University, Canada.
Suryanarayanan had this to say about his association with BHIVE : “I joined BHIVE as I was fascinated with their vision to democratize start-ups. They facilitate entrepreneurs to get their businesses up and running at the lowest cost both in terms of financial cost and effort. This is achieved by providing transparent cost of ownership of workspace and a fabulous eco-system which enables both start up entrepreneurs and large corporates trying to foster intrapreneurship. I will primarily be focusing on two initiatives:
1. Incubator consulting services, where we will help those in educational institutions/private groups desirous of setting up incubators through the whole nine yards right from concept to successful running of incubators. We will be providing services such as sharing our partnerships, software to run paperless incubators and create revenue streams to become financially viable and provide an active pipeline of relevant start-ups ready for incubation.
2. Entrepreneur-in-Residence program where interested entrepreneurs will be rotated through various functions/activities over six months to make them complete entrepreneurs. They may then be absorbed in the fast growing BHIVE Workspace or at large corporates who need intrapreneurs or be trained as incubator managers for which there is a huge demand.”
“We are extremely happy to have Surya on board. He brings with him unparalleled level of experience and relationships. He is going to open a whole new chapter at BHIVE by helping setup startup incubators across the country for our clients,” Says Shesh Paplikar, CEO BHIVE Workspace.
